Quabbin Reservoir - Massachusetts.
Interesting story about the Quabbin Reservoir, in case you don't know. In the 1930s, The Massachusetts District Commission decided to take over a large area of land to create a reservoir. The water would be piped all the way across the state for use by Boston. They paid the landowners what they (the MDC) considered to be fair. Of course, not many landowners considered it to be fair. Neither did renters, as they got nothing. Over seven years, they cleared houses, trees, cemeteries, etc, and flooded the valley. My father remembers fishing in it as the levels rose. It is now a beautiful watershed and you can hike around and find old foundations. There are a few books published about it, and you can find hiking trail books as well. I was in a play about it back in the late 90s. It is an excellent place to bike ride as well.
