This shot shows some of the damage from Hurricane Irene. I took this when I visited my father in southern Vermont. You can see the roots of the trees hanging down and the layers of rock and dirt from the landslide. The flood waters rose high enough to double the width of rivers, to make creeks into raging rivers, and to eat up the land, making roads impassable. I hope you can see some of that devastation here in this image.
