4/12/12: Spirit in the City While walking in New York last weekend with a friend and my daughter, I just couldn't pass by this church. I love the juxtaposition between the intricate detail of the church and the modern lines of the surrounding skyscrapers. Best viewed in the largest sizes. I haven't been on for a long time. Thank you to everyone that commented on my last submission. I wish I had more time to post more often. Life is just a bit too crazy right now.

3/23/12: Regan Doodles Thank you for all the comments on the house yesterday. In regards to the comments: It was shot and developed this week, the film expired 15 years ago, the film was black and white (Tri-X Pan) shot on a Mamiya 546 Pro, and my daughter is the one that chose the "spooky" processing as I was working on it. Today's shot came from the same film, also shot this week. I hope you like!

3/22/12: Springfield, MA This house is located right in the path of last year's tornado. It actually seems to be faring better than the neighbors. Such a beautiful neighborhood decimated by the storm. Regan, my daughter, decided she liked this PP best. Thank you for all the kind comments on my last two images - the ones that are 7 1/2 years old from 15 year old film. This shot was taken this week from the same film. And for those of you who were wondering, this is not a b&w conversion. It was shot in b&w on 120 film with a Mamiya 645 Pro.

3/20/12: Provincetown, MA - October 2004 This is another shot that came off of the rolls of film I just had developed. I used the film 7 years after it expired and developed it 8 years after that. I am pleasantly surprised at the quality. I hope you like the images. Thank you all so much for your kind comments yesterday on my image of Sue and Regan.

3/19/12: Sue and Regan. This shot is from October 2004. I had 7 rolls of 120 film in my fridge that I never had developed for some reason. This came from one of them. I wish I had developed it before. This is SOOC and scanned from the film (positive) on my Epson Perfection V500. The camera is a Mamiya 645 Pro. I have started to shoot with it again. It is fun, but I have to remember to be diligent about everything and learn again to take only one shot. Digital sure can spoil you. It's good to be back on Smug!

2/3/12: The Green Lantern of Equality. (I know, it's more blue than green...) This is for Kim's challenge. I "took" this picture from Google Maps and post processed it in a unique way. The image is not mine, just the processing. I haven't been on in a loooong time. Just had to contribute to the challenge. I hope you like it. Life has been crazy lately, with my daughter having 2 performances last weekend (singing with the Children's Chorus of Springfield and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall) AND acting in five performances this weekend (Drama Studio's production of The Snow Queen at City Stage). Exciting, but tiring... SOOiPhone

11/27/11: Regan peeling some birch bark for her presentation at school. Our great day hiking was topped of by finding ticks on us. Yuck!

11/9/11: Regan - My daughter. I am so sorry to hear of the difficulties some people are having with mean comments. I have had issues with the thumber myself, but mean comments are so uncalled for. Good luck. I have sometimes felt like not bothering to post, when my shot gets thumbed off the board, but keep trying. I love to see everyone's work!

11/4/11: Decided to post this in the Daily gallery. It is not my image but I inherited rights to it when the photographer died, and I did the post processing. Her name was Pam Chambers. She was a wonderful person and I miss her very much. Hoping to get some back, but willing to move forward if I can't. Just having a hard time getting motivated to shoot while I have no power (or heat) in my house. Thank you all for your kind comments. Being without power sucks, but I count myself lucky when I travel through my neighborhood. We were the worst in the city affected by the tornado and now the worst in the city affected by the snow storm. It just doesn't seem to end. It really makes you want to cry. I can't even take pictures this time. It just looks like the sky opened up and dumped leaves and limbs everywhere. 11/3/11: This is another shot SOOiPhone after the storm. We are still without power - since Saturday afternoon. Saw the first cherry picker today, and it wasn't from the electric company. This is so ridiculous.

10/30/11: Looking down my street. Power out. Trees down. And it's still October... This is SOOiPhone.

10/29/11: The best I can do right now is post from my iPhone as my hard drive crashed with no backup. Hoping I can get it all back. This is from first part of a massive storm hitting us right now.

10/27/11: Buskirk Bridge, Hoosick, NY Some of you may recognize this bridge even if you have never been to it. It is one of 29 historic covered bridges in New York state. It has a William Howe truss design and served the great Northern Turnpike beginning in 1799. It is especially meaningful to me as it is close to Hoosick Falls (where I have family) and White Creek (where my grandparents lived and my uncles grew up). The most famous resident was Grandma Moses, who was friends with nearby neighbor Norman Rockwell. Here is an interesting link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grandma_Moses

10/26/11: Bennington College, VT. Took a trip to Bennington for a funeral on Friday (my uncle). As my cousin said, some good came out of bad. I got to meet some family members I had never met before, reconnect with some I haven't seen in a while, and I got to turn it into a photographic trip. Funny how you spend a good portion of your life somewhere and never see the beauty.

10/22/11: Downtown Springfield, MA. This building is closed down now. I believe it was a victim of the tornado. Too bad. I think it's beautiful and should be restored. Thanks for all your comments yesterday.

10/12/11: Family Plot Glad you all liked the fall foliage river shot yesterday. This was taken close by. My 9yo daughter wanted to know how I knew this was a family plot. Besides being on the farm, the gravestones have only first names.

10/9/11: This is the same guy that I posted yesterday. He insisted I spend some time alone with him. And yes, they were looking at the farmer in yesterday's shot. That's the only reason I noticed him... :-) Once again, I used HDR, but other than that, this is SOOC. I like playing with HDR and bracketing. Thanks for all your comments yesterday!

10/8/11: Took this during my travels in upstate New York. I was turning around because the scenic route I was taking was in the wrong direction. As I turned the car around, I saw these two looking at me. For the next five minutes or so, I took shots of them and had quite the conversation with the one lying down. Of course, that is when I saw the farmer watching me... :-) Anyway, I enjoyed my convo and photographing the goats. I have another shot I want to post of the one lying on the ground. Probably tomorrow. This is my first attempt at HDR. So glad I bracketed that day. Other than the PhotoMerge Exposure procedure in Photoshop Elements (HDR), this is SOOC.

10/6/11: I took this at the circus at The Big E. Yes, she is hanging in midair by the back of her head. She put on a beautiful show. This is SOOC. Thank you all so much for your comments on my Midway pics. And for keeping me on the Popular board. BTW, what is the 'night fall' contest? The modern world suffered a huge loss yesterday. RIP Steve Jobs.
